Metropolis gets a makeover (and a new name)

PLAINFIELD, Ind. (WISH) – The Metropolis Lifestyle Center in Plainfield is getting an $11.1 million dollar makeover and a new name.

It will be switched to The Shops at Perry Crossing.

A few upgrades in the works include installing light posts around the 600,000 square foot plaza. LED lights will be set on a timer that will turn them on at night to make shoppers feel safer.

“I think that is a great idea, especially for people who work during the day and can only shop at night,” said shopper Janet Louis.

The developer said digital signage, benches, a water fountain and a theatre area will also be added by October 2015.

Their goal is to make the shopping area more inviting for community members.

“We want them to stay before and after they shop. While they are guests, safety is our number one priority. That is why we want to add LED lights to brighten the areas at night,” said project manager Julie Calis.
