USCIS celebrates opening of new field office

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A new field office and application support center for U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services opened on Wednesday with a ribbon cutting ceremony and a naturalization ceremony.

During the naturalization ceremony 20 immigrants were sworn in as new U.S. citizens.

The new office was dedicated to Private A. Josephy Frantz. According to a release, Frantz was a French immigrant who fought in the Civil War and serviced in the Union’s Army Company E. 83 Indiana Infantry. He was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor on August 13, 1894.

USCIS is located at 1099 North Meridian Street and will provide services including, fingerprinting, lawful permanent resident processing, naturalization interviews and photographic services.
