1955 Crispus Attucks basketball team to serve as 500 Festival Parade Grand Marshals
INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The 500 Festival announced the 1955 Crispus Attucks State Champion basketball team will be Grand Marshals for the 58th annual IPL 500 Festival Parade.
On Sunday May 23 Hoosiers will get to honor the team’s historic accomplishments. The parade will have a planned stop along the Parade route, on Monument Circle. A celebration including music, signs and pompoms will honor the team.
“Winning the state championship was a special time for our team and for the community. It meant so much to us and to Indianapolis. On behalf of the 1955 Cripsus Attucks High School basketball team, we are honored to serve as the Grand Marshals for this year’s IPL 500 Festival Parade,” said Oscar Robertson.
In addition to being Grand Marshal of the Parade the members will walk the televised red carpet as VIP guests at the KeyBank 500 Snakepit Ball.
