IMPD grabs 11 handguns, 8 suspects in 10 days

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Police officers took 11 handguns and arrested eight people for illegally possessing them in a recent span of days in Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department’s north district.

IMPD officials said the arrests happened in the area of 38th Street and Sherman Drive, which is one of multiple focus areas for police.

These were the incidents between April 24 and May 4:

  • 3300 block of North Keystone Avenue – two handguns, one arrest
  • 5200 block of East 82nd Street – one handgun, no arrests
  • 3600 block of North Graceland Avenue – one handgun, one juvenile arrest
  • 4000 block of North Butler Avenue – one handgun, one arrest
  • 3300 block of Forest Manor Avenue – one handgun, no arrests
  • 3700 block of North Parker Avenue – three handguns, three arrests
  • 2900 block of East 38th Street – two handguns, one adult arrest, one juvenile arrest
