Logansport police continue to investigate shooting

LOGANSPORT, Ind. (WLFI) – Around 11 p.m. Tuesday night, Logansport resident Steven Reid heard what he thought was the sound of fireworks going off outside his home in the 100 block of West Linden Ave. But what Reid thought were firecrackers, were really gunshots.

“I came outside, and there was a bunch of cops on the street and a guy was laid out,” said Reid.

Police found 25-year-old Timothy Armstrong laying in the street with multiple gunshot wounds to his upper torso. For resident Jerry Woodke, the shooting happened a little too close to home.

“We’re usually the kind of people who leave our doors unlocked,” said Woodke. “Nothing like this has ever happened before. It’s unbelievable that it happened two doors down.”

After Armstrong was shot three times, he managed to call 911 and was able to tell police how to find him. Logansport Assistant Police Chief Bryan Hillis said the shooting isn’t a random act.

Hillis said said police are looking for two people of interest. However, he said they aren’t giving out too much information for the sake of the investigation.

“We’re trying to withhold their names because we believe we have a couple of places where they might be, and so we’re trying to keep them in one place,” said Hillis.

Woodke said this act of violence has changed how he sees his neighborhood.

“There’s no words to explain it. It’s just now I’m scared, and I’ll have to start watching my son a little more,” said Woodke.

Armstrong is at Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne in critical but stable condition.
