IMS unveils new video boards

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — New video boards are up and running at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

The boards were first turned on for the mini-marathon last Saturday.

IMS President Doug Boles said the boards are a needed upgrade to provide fans with the experience and view they need to enjoy the races at the track.

Each LED board is high-definition. There are ten total throughout the infield and grandstands. According to IMS leaders, 98 percent of ticket holders will have a clear view of at least one of the boards, making fans feel closer to the race than ever before.

“The track is so big, you can’t see all the way around, so video for us is really, really important. And this Panasonic relationship I think is just going to take that to the next level. We’ve had great feedback in the few days we’ve been open and we’re going to get better every day,” Boles said.

The pagoda displays will be 50 percent larger than before. The displays around the track range from 3.5 times bigger to more than four times bigger than the previous boards.

The one thing that hasn’t changed is the locations of the video boards.
