Indy police pedal for fallen heroes

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — On Friday, an Indianapolis Police Foundation board member and former Indiana State Trooper, along with two Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officers set out for a bike ride to honor those who died in the line of duty.

The group took part in the Police Unity Tour. The mission is to bring public awareness of police officers who have died in the line of duty, honor their sacrifices and raise money.

They will ride to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, D.C.

“The money we raise in the Police Unity Tour goes back to Washington, D.C. It helps for the maintenance of the wall which has all of the police officer’s names who have been killed in the line of duty engraved there,” Amy Kulik IPF Board Member said.

24-Hour News 8 put a GoPro camera on Kulik’s bike and she’ll be sending us video updates on her ride.

Kulik will be wearing the bike helmet in memory of Jason Baker who was killed in the line of duty in 2001.

Monday kicks off Police Week. Kulik and the other officers are expected to arrive in D.C. Tuesday. On Friday, IMPD Officer Perry Renn’s name will be added to the Fallen Officer’s Wall.
