Philbin tells Trine grads not to be afraid to share goals

ANGOLA, Ind. (AP) – Television personality Regis Philbin spoke at Trine University’s commencement and told graduates class not to be afraid of telling others of their life goals.

The Star of Auburn reports Philbin told the graduates on Saturday not to be hesitant, but to be confident.

Philbin recalled while working on the “Joey Bishop Show,” he went out into an audience and asked a young man what he wanted to do with his life.

The man couldn’t answer, and Philbin said he thought it was because he was afraid he could not achieve what he wanted to do.

Twenty-five years later, Philbin met that man, who told him he was angry that he had not been able to answer him. Philbin said the man turned out to be filmmaker Steven Spielberg.
