Burglars snatch baby clothes and diapers as mother gives birth at local hospital

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Jane’ Bailey gave birth to a healthy baby boy on May 5 named Sayir.

The boy came in weighing 8 pounds and 1 ounce. Doctors delivered him at St. Vincent’s Women’s Hospital to the delight of Bailey.

Shortly after delivering Sayir, Bailey’s mother informed her that burglars had targeted her apartment. The break-in happened at the Addison Creek Apartments on the 5800 block of Port Irving Drive.

In the process, the suspects swiped televisions, baby clothes, and even baby diapers.

“Somebody needed it more than we did, or so they thought,” said Bailey as she sat in tears.

Bailey’s mother’s frustrations boiled over after learning what thieves did to her daughter and grandson. So, she wrote a paragraph addressed to the unknown suspects and posted it on her daughter’s apartment door.

It read in part, “You think you got away, and no one see’s you, jokes on you God sees all.”

24-Hour News 8 received a police report detailing the crime. Police have no suspects.

Doctors discharged Jane’ from the hospital on Saturday and since then, she has found a temporary place to live.

Her boyfriend spent Tuesday trying to remove the remaining items in the apartment. During that time, he discovered someone had broke into the apartment again, ransacking the items left behind.

“They’ve been back,” said Saeed Strayhorn as he locked the door to the apartment unit.
