Fort Wayne man gets 70 months for distributing marijuana from home
FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – A man who admitted to being part of a major pot trafficking operation in Fort Wayne was sentenced on Tuesday. Marshall Bulter is set to spend 70 months in prison, which is just under six years behind bars.
Butler agreed to plead guilty in October 2014 to running a marijuana distribution operation out of a home located at 5603 Kohart Place in Fort Wayne from Oct. 8, 2009 to November 2011. He also agreed at that time to testify against Michael Fabini, however, Fabini pleaded guilty to two of the 44 charges against him just a month later.
The federal case against Butler and Fabini made headlines when FBI agents raided Fabini’s Cherry Hill subdivision home in December of 2012. The FBI also raided eight other locations, including Butler’s home.
A third man, Jamison Gudorf, was sentenced to 27 months in prison in February 2014.
Fabini, Butler and Gudorf were arrested after the December 2012 raid. In February 2013, Fabini was indicted on more than 40 charges of drug trafficking, money laundering and unlawful financial transactions.
Another person, Matthew J. McChesney, was involved in the drug trafficking operation according to authorities. He’s serving 27 years in prison after more than three-and-a-half tons of marijuana worth an estimated $6 million was found at a home on Antwerp Road in 2008.
