Ground breaking set for new UIndy apartment

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The University of Indianapolis will break ground on a new four-story apartment this month.

The new complex will create new housing for around 480 students. The school said the new building will also beautify the campus along the Shelby Street corridor.

The apartment will go up at Shelby Street and National Avenue, replacing the 60-unit complex that dates back to the 1950s. The 196 units in the new complex will be furnished with kitchens, living areas washer and dryer units with different floor plans.

Officials say the project should be complete by July 2016 and is expected to cost around $25 million.

The ground breaking ceremony is scheduled for May 28.
