IU student ethics employee arrested for child porn

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (WISH) — Police arrested an Indiana University employee after investigators say he uploaded child porn on a university laptop in his office.

32-year-old Jon Riveire was arrested by the Bloomington Police Department on Tues.

Riveire was Assistant Director for Student Conduct in the Office of Student Ethics at IU. His employment was terminated on Wed.

A spokesman for the university stated that “if the allegations are true, they are disturbing. IU will continue to cooperate fully with investigators.”

An investigation into Riveire began after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children alerted BPD that an image that may be child pornography was uploaded to a Gmail account. The IP address of the laptop that was used showed that address was owned by IU.

A court order was used to determine the location and person associated with the IP address and linked the IP to Riveire’s office on campus at 801 North Jordan Avenue.

After being taken into custody, Riveire requested a lawyer shortly after an interview began and didn’t speak further to investigators.

A search warrant was obtained for additional electronic devices. Investigators said approximately thirty additional images have since been found on the laptop.

BPD said the case remains under investigation.
