Dispatcher helps elderly man who called 911 for food

FAYETTEVILLE, North Carolina (WISH) – When an elderly man recently made an emergency call for help, the person on the other end answered that call, literally.

After returning home from several months in the hospital, 81-year-old cancer patient Clarence Blackmon needed help.

He was hungry, alone, and needed assistance with purchasing some groceries. Not knowing what else to do, Blackmon called 911 and stated his dilemma.

The 911 operator, Marilyn Hinson, who took his call, knew what it was like to experience the pains of hunger.

After her shift ended, she showed up at Blackmon’s door with an arm full of groceries.

She stayed and made Blackmon some sandwiches. She even left him her number and told him to call if there was ever anything else he needed.
