Docs: Woman went to retail stores for drug deals

BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) – A Bartholomew County woman is facing charges after police say she was involved with drug deals last year inside retail stores.

Thirty-six-year-old Laura Hiles was booked into the Bartholomew County Jail after two warrants were issued for her arrest. Police say one warrant charges her with two counts of dealing in methamphetamine and stems from two incidents last year where $200 in cash was exchanged for more than 2 grams of meth.

According to court documents, an incident in August involved a police informant and took place in the bathroom of a convenience store. An October incident happened in a retail store and involved an undercover narcotics detective.

The second warrant issued for Hiles charged her with the theft of items from a Kohl’s store in late March, 24-Hour News 8’s news partners at The Republic report.

Over the past several months, Hiles has faced a number of other charges in Bartholomew and Jennings counties.
