6 fallen Indiana officers honored in D.C.

WASHINGTON, D.C. (WISH) – The names of six Indiana police officers will be added to the Fallen Officer’s Wall in Washington, D.C. Friday.

One of those names is Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department Officer Perry Renn. Officer Renn was killed in the line of duty last July after responding to a shooting on the east side.

Friday morning, an IMPD officer was on the red carpet detail at the 34th Annual Peace Officers Memorial Service. Honor Guard Officer Leepper was joined by brothers and sisters in blue from across the nation to honor those fallen heroes that have given the ultimate sacrifice.

“To all the families who are here today whose loved ones did not come home at the end of a shift, please know how deeply sorry we are for the loss that you’ve endured,” President Barack Obama said Friday. “Know how deeply grateful we are for your sacrifice.”

Thursday, members of the IMPD Honor Guard had the honor of standing guard at the National Law Enforcement Officer Memorial.

Honor guards from all over the country stood guard this week.
