Fast Friday not quite as fast as advertised

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Fast Friday didn’t quite live up to its name at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Despite the added engine boost and the new aero kits, 230 and change was the top speed, less than expected heading into Indianapolis 500 qualifying.

But the top two power teams were well-represented at the top of the speed charts.

Penske’s Simon Pagenaud has been solid all week, leading the pack on Fast Friday at 230.69 mph.

Ganassi’s dynamic duo of Scott Dixon and Tony Kanaan were also near the top as teams ran in qualifying trim with a boost of about 50 horsepower.

Marco Andretti, Will Power, and Sage Karam topped the 230 mark ahead of Saturday qualifying.

The fast nine will make a run for the pole on Sunday.
