2 arrested on drug charges at Lafayette gas station

LAFAYETTE, Ind. (WLFI) — A man attempted to flee Lafayette police before being arrested on drug-related charges. The man was one of two people arrested at a Lafayette gas station Friday.

Just after 8:30 p.m. Friday, Lafayette police were called to the Marathon Station at Earl Avenue and South Street after reports of a man passed out in his car. Officers found Patrick Norman unresponsive and slumped over the wheel with the engine running.

Norman was wanted on an outstanding warrant, and drugs were found in his possession. Norman was medically evaluated prior to being taken to the Tippecanoe County Jail.

Further investigation resulted in detaining four other persons. One detained subject, identified as Robert Wayne James, fled from officers and was apprehended several blocks away. James was wanted on an outstanding warrant, and was also found to have drugs in his possession.

The three other involved persons were released at the scene.

Norman and James were arrested on the following charges:

Patrick Norman: Warrant, possession of methamphetamine, dealing in methamphetamine, possession of heroin and possession of a schedule IV substance.

Robert James: Warrant, possession of methamphetamine, dealing in methamphetamine, possession of heroin, dealing narcotic drug (heroin), possession of a schedule IV substance, resisting law enforcement and false informing.
