Tips for using sunscreen this summer

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Sunscreen is key to protect you and your kids from the harmful rays of the sun.

Keeping your body healthy starts with prevention.

Sunblock should be worn on both sunny and cloudy days. It doesn’t take a hot, sunny day to get a sunburn.

Sunscreen should be applied at least 15 minutes before sun exposure, though 30 minutes is ideal, and it needs to be re-applied every two hours.

SPF 30 or higher, “broad spectrum” and water resistant sunscreens are recommended.
