SC mother, kids spot 10-foot alligator in neighborhood

GOOSE CREEK, S.C. (WISH) — A story about a mother and her two kids in Goose Creek, South Carolina has gone viral, all because of a 10-foot alligator walking in their front lawn.

Sonya Gilreath’s says she first spotted the alligator in her bushes Thursday morning. She said her and her two and three-year-old sat on the front porch “watching it” until she realized how gigantic it was.

Gilreath said she then took her kids inside and snapped some pictures of the gigantic gator.

According to a news station in South Carolina, animal control and police left after the alligator went into a pond in the front of the mother’s house.

The mom called the Department of Natural Resources asking to have it removed. They told her they wouldn’t remove the gator from a residential area – calling it the homeowner association’s responsibility.

The mother says it’s still in the pond and she wants it gone.

The Goose Creek Police Department shared the story on their Facebook page warning residents if they see the alligator to not approach it.
