LAS VEGAS (AP) — Taylor Swift and Chris Brown showed affection at the Billboard Music Awards while the cameras were rolling.

Swift kissed rumored boyfriend DJ-producer-singer Calvin Harris on the cheek and gave him a hug before winning top Billboard 200 album Sunday night.

“I am so happy to win this for ‘1989,’ ” Swift said at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. “To the fans who I talk to online and the ones I see at the shows, I love you so much more than I’ll ever be able to say to you.”

Brown showed a softer side when he walked the red carpet with his daughter, Royalty, on their way to the show inside the arena.

Swift kicked off the awards by debuting her action-filled music video for “Bad Blood” starring Selena Gomez and Lena Dunham and showcasing Swift as a fighting vixen.

The video opened with Swift and Gomez fighting men in an office and then fighting one another. It ended with Swift and Gomez’s armies going head-to-head. Other stars in the clip included Mariska Hargitay, Ellen Pompeo, Jessica Alba, and Ellie Goulding and Hayley Williams of Paramore.

Swift swapped her first two verses with new ones from rapper Kendrick Lamar for “Bad Blood,” a song rumored to be about Swift’s friendship with Katy Perry.

“I am so excited I got to the show the world,” Swift told the audience Sunday at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

One Direction, which recently downsized to four members, won the night’s first award for top duo/group. “There is one more person to share this with, and that’s our brother Zayn,” Liam Payne said of Zayn Malik, who left the group.

Iggy Azalea won top rap song for “Fancy” as her NBA player boyfriend, Nick Young, looked at the rapper with emotion. Azalea also won top streaming artist and rap artist.

Sam Smith, who recently had vocal surgery, didn’t attend the show. He won top male artist and wrote his thank you speech on cue cards, which aired via video.

Van Halen was the night’s first performance and rocked the crowd with its 1984 hit “Panama.” Mariah Carey sang her first hit, “Vision of Love,” which was pitchy. She followed it with new single, “Infinity,” where she also struggled. She ended with a strong high note, though.

The night is expected to include other performances, including ones by Britney Spears, Iggy Azalea, Nicki Minaj, David Guetta, Chris Brown, Pitbull and Ed Sheeran. Kanye West will close the three-hour show.

Hosts Ludacris and Chrissy Teigen offered some jokes Sunday night: The rapper went on to describe why he’s a good host and namechecked his music and acting credits. And then Teigen replied: “And I bang a musician” as her husband, John Legend, stood up.

Swift was the lead nominee with 14 nominations, including top artist, pitting her against Smith, Sheeran, One Direction and Ariana Grande. Swift won awards that didn’t make the broadcast, including top Hot 100 artist, billboard 200 artist and digital songs artist.

Imagine Dragons will pay tribute to Ben E. King, while Charlie Puth and Wiz Khalifa performed their dedication to actor Paul Walker, the No. 1 hit “See You Again.” Clips of “Fast & Furious” played in the background while Lindsey Stirling played the violin onstage.

And there may be a tribute to blues legend B.B. King, who died Thursday in Las Vegas. “At this point we are really not sure, but it will be acknowledged in the broadcast for sure,” executive producer Robert Deaton said in an interview Friday.

“We are working on it,” executive producer Mark Bracco added. “There’s going to be a lot of emotion in the show in addition to a lot of fun.”

Performers also include Kelly Clarkson, Fifth Harmony, Hozier, Fall Out Boy and Jussie Smollett and Bryshere “Yazz” Gray from the hit series, “Empire.” Presenters include Idina Menzel, Khloe Kardashian, Kylie Jenner and Prince Royce.
