Woman in critical condition after boat accident

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A woman was seriously injured when a pontoon and a speed boat collided on Geist Reservoir Sunday, according to Indianapolis Fire Department officials.

A husband and wife were traveling on the pontoon boat, when they were struck by a speed boat carrying two adults and five children.

All seven passengers in the speed boat were uninjured and were not thrown from their boat. The children were all wearing life jackets.

The husband in the pontoon boat was thrown from the pontoon, but was able to lift himself back into the pontoon boat to administer first aid to his wife.

The wife was transported with serious injuries to St. Vincent Carmel Hospital. She was listed in critical condition on Sunday night.

The Department of Natural Resources is investigating the accident.
