Indy Police Foundation launches Code One Fund to support traumatically injured officers and their families

The Indianapolis Police Foundation (IPF) recently launched the Code One Fund to raise funds and awareness for officers who have suffered traumatic injuries. The first gift from the Code One Fund, is directed towards Officer Santos Cortez, paralyzed in the line of duty in 2012. IPF challenges the community to stand in support of these officers and their families who have made life-altering sacrifices.

It is really powerful for them [the officers] to see that there is, in fact, a community standing in support…it is definitely impactful. “

During National Police Week, IPF officially launched it’s online merchandise store, the proceeds of sales supporting IPF’s efforts. Here you can get purchase items  website is indypolicefoundation.org, then click on shop at the top.

In 2013 in the US, 14,565 officers were injured in the line of duty – an officer injury every 35 minutes. Fortunately, many of those officers are able to return to duty after recovery, but this is not always the case.

The Indianapolis Police Foundation is a community-driven nonprofit organization whose mission is to foster community-wide support for law enforcement by supporting traumatically injured officers and their families, providing supplemental resources for officers in the line of duty, and building positive officer-community partnerships.
