Major General Umbarger honored on House floor

WASHINGTON (WISH) – Major General R. Martin Umbarger was honored Tuesday on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives by Indiana Congressman Luke Messer.

After decades of service to the Indiana National Guard, Major General Umbarger is retiring from his post as Adjutant General of Indiana. He was appointed to the position in 2004 by then-governor Mitch Daniels.

“General Umbarger is a true Hoosier hero,” Rep. Messer said. “His shoes are big ones to fill.”
