Sheriff: Escape suspect taken to hospital after injuring self

TIPPECANOE COUNTY, Ind. (WLFI) – Escape suspect Marcus Bramlett is in the hospital with serious injuries after trying to hurt himself at the Tippecanoe County Jail.

Tippecanoe County Sheriff Barry Richard says it happened when Bramlett was released from his padded cell Monday night to use the restroom. Inmates are not supervised when they’re in the restroom.

Correctional officers found Bramlett with head injuries. He was taken to Franciscan St. Elizabeth East hospital where he is still undergoing treatment.

Richard said Bramlett’s injuries are serious.

When he’s released from the hospital, he will return to the jail where he is on a 72-hour hold while prosecutors decide charges.

Bramlett was arrested Saturday after attacking a Tippecanoe County sheriff’s deputy and stealing her car.
