Our Yelp Meet the Makers series continues with some Indiana classics in the kitchen. Find out the secrets to making Indiana’s official State Pie, the Sugar Cream. Kelly Maucere, owner of My Sugar Pie offers up tips on how you can make the perfect sugar cream pie.
It is simple ingredients…sugar, cream and butter with just a little bit of nutmeg…it isn’t as easy as it looks.”
The trick is to pre-cook the dry ingredients and heavy cream on medium heat for about 10 minutes and when it starts to bubble, add your butter and vanilla. Let it continue to cook, then pour it into a pie shell and bake for about 20 minutes.
