Attorney seeks change of venue in IU student murder case

BROWN COUNTY, Ind. (WISH) — The attorney defending the man accused of murdering an Indiana University student is looking for a change of venue.

Dorie Maryan, attorney for Daniel Messel, filed a motion for change of venue to move the case out of Brown County.

The 49-year-old Messel is accused of murdering IU student Hannah Wilson after his phone was found near her body in rural Brown County on April 24.

Messel’s attorney was recently granted funds to hire a private investigator for the case

Messel’s trial is currently set to begin July 22.
