Tuition to freeze for state residents attending IU Bloomington

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. (WISH) — Indiana University plans to freeze tuition for state residents attending IU Bloomington.

This year’s freeze is part of a two-year effort to control tuition.

Those efforts have resulted in no increases for more than 18,000 university students, most of whom attend IU Bloomington, according to a media release.

IU Bloomington has the lowest average net cost of attendance of any school in the Big Ten, the university says.

“Indiana University is grateful for the strong support we received from the General Assembly, Gov. Pence and the commission in the recently concluded session,” IU President Michael A. McRobbie said. “This support has allowed us to hold tuition once again to historically low levels, including the tuition freeze at IU Bloomington.”

For students from outside Indiana, tuition will increase 1.5 percent each of the next two years, which is consistent with state guidelines.
