SPEEDWAY, Ind. (WISH) — Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard will attend his final Indy 500 as mayor Sunday.

He spoke with 24-Hour News 8’s Lori Wilson and Eric Halvorson ahead of the race.

The mayor doesn’t have a favorite in this year’s race, but he did say that a win by hometown driver Ed Carpenter for next year’s 100th Indy 500 would be great to see.

He said he’s excited to have the eyes of the world watching Indianapolis today. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
