INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — A man was arrested Sunday following a vehicle pursuit that went from Lawrence to Indianapolis.

Lawrence Police Department Captain Gary Woodruff said an officer attempted to run a check of the plates on the suspect’s vehicle and learned the vehicle was stolen. The officer attempted to pull the suspect over, and that’s when the suspect took off, leading police on a lengthy chase that finally ended in Indianapolis.

Police arrested 29-year-old Jason Keener of Indianapolis on preliminary charges of neglect of a dependent, resisting law enforcement and auto theft.

According to police, Keener was driving a vehicle that was stolen out of Brownsburg. Keener’s girlfriend and a child were in the car at the time of the chase, police said. The woman will not be charged.

Police say Keener also had an open warrant, charging him with four felonies:

  • Auto theft
  • Resisting law enforcement
  • Unauthorized entry of a vehicle
  • Theft
