Straight No Chaser hoping to fill Nabors’ shoes at 500

SPEEDWAY, Ind. (WISH) —  For the first time in many years, the singing of “Back Home Again in Indiana” to kick off the Indy 500 will not be performed  by Jim Nabors.

A cappella group Straight No Chaser will perform the iconic song this year.

The group formed at Indiana University, and two members even grew up in the Indy area.

Straight No Chaser spoke with 24-Hour News 8’s Amanda Maynard Sunday morning about their expectations and history.

While the group has not had the opportunity to chat from Nabors about what to expect, “I think he would want us to just not screw up,” they said.
