First Indy 500 and camping experience for Indy native

SPEEDWAY, Ind. (WISH) — We’ve all heard stories about the former Coke Lot, and there are some people who go through this every year.

But this was the first time out here for Amy Sherman.

She’s lived in Indy for most of her life, but this was her first time camping here, and her first time at the race.

What was she expecting for her first time?

“Probably a bunch of old people sitting around, camping quietly, but no, that wasn’t the case, said Sherman. “It’s like one big party the whole time you’re here, and everybody is real nice and friendly. Just walking around and seeing all the different people, what they were wearing, Speedos, bikini tops. It was a blast, I had fun.”

Despite the Speedos and bikini tops, Sherman says she’s making this a tradition. She says she’ll be back next year, and later this summer for the Brickyard 400.
