ZIONSVILLE, Ind. (WISH) — This week’s Athlete of the Week, Will Norton, has played a big role in the rise of the Zionsville men’s volleyball program over the years.  The Eagles made it to the postseason this year before falling in the regional round to Southport.

“Will is really great,” said Matthew Nance, Zionsville head coach.  “He’s really nice to have all around, a great kid. Just that kid that you want to be friends with. He’s jovial, he’s outgoing, he works hard. He wants to be a leader, and he’s learning how to do that. He’s figuring out how to push this team. He’s figuring out how to push himself, and he’s working really hard.”

Norton’s leadership skills go beyond just the volleyball court.  He’s active in a variety of clubs and his church, where he leads a youth group of seventh grade boys.

“As I’ve gotten older, it’s been more and more important to me and helped me through a lot of things,” said Norton.  “I kind of want to help the people that are going through similar things that I’ve been through. It feels like a lot of pressure at times because people come to you and ask questions and stuff and you obviously don’t know all the answers, but it’s really cool to have people look up to you and be that person that a lot of people can come to. “ provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
