Forbes: Indy is 2nd best city for solar power

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Forbes Magazine has recognized Indianapolis as the second best city in the nation with the most solar photovoltaic (PV) installed per capita.

Honolulu took the number one spot.

According to Forbes, Environmental America used data from a variety of data sources for both rooftop and utility-scale facilities within each city.

The report said the solar PV capacity installed per capita in Indianapolis is 127 watts-dc per person.

Indianapolis is home to the largest airport-based solar farm in the world – Indianapolis International Airport.

The solar farm consists of more than 31,000 panels and takes up 150 acres.

The energy produced could power more than 1,410 average American homes a year.
