Anderson police investigate shooting, robbery

ANDERSON, Ind. (WISH) — Anderson Police are investigating a shooting from Wednesday where a man was struck in his hand and right thigh by a bullet.

According to police, the incident happened in the area of West 9th Street and Henry Street around 8 p.m. Justice Carter, 18, told police that he was meeting an acquaintance to sell marijuana to the man in the Anderson Pantry parking lot.

The suspect arrived with two other men in the vehicle. Carter entered the suspect’s vehicle when the suspect attempted to rob him. Carter was able to exit the vehicle after a struggle with the suspect began. While he was attempting to flee the suspect fired one gunshot that struck Carter in the hand and right thigh.

After being shot the victim ran to a resident’s home and called 911. Carter was transferred to St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital with non-life threatening injures.

The suspect’s car was later reported stolen by the owner. However, detectives found that the owner of the vehicle lent the car to the suspect.

Police were still investigating the case Thursday.
