Colts’ Werner looks to improve

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Colts 2013 first round draft pick Bjoern Werner has been a disappointment so far.

He was expected to boost the Colts pass rush, but seven sacks in two seasons isn’t going to cut it.

Werner says injuries have set him back. He’s already missed most of this month’s OTA’s with a shoulder issue recovering from off-season surgery, but his head coach says to be patient.

“We’ve seen him do it,” says Chuck Pagano. “You know, so I’ve got, you know, video evidence. We’ve got it on tape of him doing it and playing at a high level and being productive. So now it’s just a matter of him, you know, staying healthy, and if he can stay healthy, he’ll have a great year. You’ve got to be out there, ’cause the only way, you know, you gain confidence is by playing.”

Werner hopes to be back on the field for the teams mini-camp in June.
