Swedish non-profit offering app to help abused kids, teens

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – A Swedish non-profit organization has developed a new smartphone application that helps abused kids and teen.

Bris is an organization that manages a helpline for children and teenagers.

They developed the app “Abused Emojis” to reflect and extend the kind of work they do.

“Every day we have contact with hundreds of kids through phone, chat and mail conversation,” according to the website. “Many of the problems that children face today are stigmatized. The Abused Emojis app is a symbol for our work to make children talk more freely about their situation.”

The app features a set of 15 emojis that are variations of the traditional emojis. They each portray different types of physical and psychological harm.

According to Bris, Abused Emojis is already the third most downloaded free iOS app in Sweden.

The iPhone app launched on the iTunes App Store last week.
