Colts train moms on keeping kids safe playing football

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — The Indianapolis Colts held a session Saturday to teach moms about keeping their kids safe when playing football.

Trainers with Indianapolis-based USA Football talked to the women about right ways to tackle.

“They want to know: How do I know if my son’s equipment fits right?” Jake Gilbert, head football coach at Westfield High School said. “They want to know: What’s the best equipment, does it matter what kind of helmet he has, how can I tell if my son just has a headache or if he has a concussion, what’s the difference?”

Participants even got the chance to hit the football field for a training session.

The event was free for those who registered.
