Crews respond to structural collapse due to heavy storms

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Emergency crews responded to a call of two single story structural collapses Saturday evening.

The call came in just before 9 p.m. and the first crew arrived on the scene minutes later.

Two single story residences in the 5400 block of Pommel Court collapsed due to the heavy rain and winds.

According to the Indianapolis Fire Department, both houses were owned and being lived in at the time.

Andrea Sutterfield told IFD that their house was destroyed within seconds after hearing the heavy winds and rains.

While one family was not home at the time of the incident, the individuals living in the other residence affected by the storm were home at the time.

However, everyone, including pets of both families have been found and accounted for and no injuries were reported.

According to IFD, they went on more than 30 storm related runs involving down power lines, flooding, and severe damage to houses.
