One week later, baby Janna still missing

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – It has been one week since three-month old Janna Rivera went missing. The baby is presumed dead by police.

Police said there were no planned organized searches Friday, but they will continue to search based on any credible leads.

Anthony Garrett, who does not know the family but lived down the street from them before they were evicted, said he’s keeping them in his prayers.

“Continuous prayer. Continuous in our churches. Continuous in the street. People just have to be concerned about their neighbors more,” said Garrett.

Initial searches brought police from a landfill to multiple fields. Police said they’re confident the baby’s father, Jeff Fairbanks, put the child’s body in a dumpster.

IMPD Lt. Rick Riddle said there are state statutes with requirements on reporting if someone is deceased.

“Any and all potential charges are possible in this case and our detectives are doing their best to determine what charges are appropriate in this incident,” Lt. Riddle said.

As of now, no charges have been filed.

Fairbanks was served a protective order this week, filed by the baby’s mother. The mother accuses Fairbanks of physically abusing her during their relationship.

Police said they are staying in contact with Fairbanks.
