Food bank packs ‘back sacks’ to combat hunger

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – Local statistics have said that 113,000 central Indiana children do not have access to a good meal.

On Saturday, a group of volunteers came together to fill ‘back sacks’ with food to make sure students have something to eat on the weekends.

The backpacks will be handed out during the 2015-2016 school year.

The event was organized by Gleaners Food Bank. The food bank will distribute more than 10,000 backpacks to students in 240 schools in 21 counties.
