Police arrest suspect found hiding in dryer

COLUMBUS, Ind. (WISH) — Columbus Police arrested a suspect in an unusual place on Friday afternoon after a hit-and-run crash.

Police arrested two people involved in the crash that happened around 4:30 p.m. near 10th Street and Central Avenue. A blue Chevrolet truck reportedly fled the scene. Police also advised that a female bailed from the truck and ran on foot. She was later located in a homeowners dryer.

Police located the truck near 19th Street and Keller Avenue. The driver, 27-year-old Kevin Alcom was taken into custody.

A witness flagged down officers and told police that she saw a woman matching the description of the suspect hiding in the bushes next to her house. A resident was trying to assist the suspect and invited her into the home. The resident became uncomfortable and asked the suspect to leave.

The homeowner later double checked the home to make sure she had left. That’s when the suspect was located inside a clothes dryer.

Police arrested the suspect, identified as 25-year-old Crystal Floyd.

Floyd complained of chest and back pain from the crash and told police that she had recently used meth.

Alcom was preliminary charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in injury. Floyd was arrested on warrants from Jennings County and Bartholomew County.
