Bloomington restaurant Topo’s 403 serves up Mediterranean fare

It’s all about fresh Greek and Mediterranean-inspired cuisine in our Indy Style kitchens this morning!

Chef Anthony Gabriele, from Topo’s 403, prepared the restaurant’s shrimp & feta mezede and their famous 403 burger. The burger has been named one of the “top five chef’s burgers” in the state by Indy Monthly magazine, the only restaurant named that is not in Indianapolis!

Here are the full recipes!403 burger (seasoned ground lamb and beef, grilled sweet onion and spicy feta spread on a housemade pita bun with pickled 403 fries)

8 oz ground lamb

3 oz ground beef

2T dijon mustard

1T parsley, chopped

1T dill, chopped

1T garlic confit puree

Yield one burger. Mix all ingredients loosely and form into patty. Spread bun with htipiti (see below) and top burger with grilled sweet onion.Htipiti

8 oz crumbled feta

4 oz roasted red pepper

3T olive oil

1T lemon juice

1T garlic clove, minced

1 pepperoncini, seeded

Mix all ingredients in food processor and chill. Yield 1 ½ cups spread/dip.

Shrimp & Feta (Gulf shrimp tossed with olive oil, garlic, cherry tomatoes, pepperoncini, feta, toasted coriander and cilantro, roasted and served bubbling)

4 jumbo gulf shrimp, tail on

6T olive oil

2 cloves garlic, minced

4 oz cherry tomatoes

2 pepperoncini, seeded and cut into rings

2 oz feta, crumbled

fresh cilantro

coriander seeds

Mix 4T olive oil, cherry tomatoes, and pepperoncini.

Saute garlic and shrimp until opaque in 2T olive oil.

Add the remaining olive oil, cherry tomatoes, pepperoncini and feta to pan to heat and coat shrimp.

Garnish with toasted coriander seeds and fresh cilantro.

Yield: one serving.

The restaurant is open Sunday nights, serving a special menu all served family-style. All dishes are prepared to serve 2 people or 4 people, meant to be shared. Their Sunday dinner menu focuses on “comfort foods” – moussaka, roasted chicken, pasta with shrimp, warm pita and spreads.
