Annual Strawberry Festival celebrates 50 years

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – The “berry” popular Christ Church Cathedral Women’s Strawberry Festival comes to Monument Circle Thursday, June 11, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

More than 300 volunteers will be on-hand to serve an estimated six tons of strawberries and 18,000 homemade shortcakes. This year marks the 50th Annual Strawberry Festival.

Carry-out orders begin at 8:30 a.m. in the basement of the cathedral. Entertainment begins on the Circle at 10 a.m.

Cost is $7 for “The Works” which is shortcake, strawberries, ice cream and whipped topping or $2 A la carte. Vendors can only accept cash, but there are ATMs nearby.

Festival proceeds benefit local, national and global nonprofit organizations through bi-annual grants.
