Avon is ‘Savannah Strong’ in memory of teen

AVON, Ind. (WISH) — The community in Avon is “Savannah Strong” in honor of the 18-year-old killed in a car crash.

These bracelets, reading #SavannahStrong, were available for pick up at the McAllister’s Deli in Avon Thursday evening.

That’s where Savannah Bettis worked.

The bracelets cost $5 and all of the money raised will go to Savannah’s family to help cover funeral costs.

“She was a sweetheart, she was funny, she was great, she had her bad days in here just like the rest of us. But if you ask me, that makes her family just about,” said Wesley Claytor, store manager.

Savannah died June 4 when the car she was in went off the road along Ronald Reagan Parkway in Avon.

So far nearly 1,400 bracelets have been sold.
