Indy man reported missing by family found dead in Morgan Co.

MARTINSVILLE, Ind. (WISH) — The investigation continues after a body of an Indianapolis man reported missing almost a week ago was discovered in Morgan County.

The Morgan County Sheriff’s Department said a farmer found the 47-year-old victim in an abandoned car in the 4500 block of Centenary Road in Martinsville Wednesday morning.

The farmer told investigators he was checking his field when he made that gruesome discovery. The victim has been identified as 4Anton Dion Robinson, 47.

His family reported him missing last week, but how he ended up more than 30 miles away from home is still a mystery to investigators.

Crime scene tape blocked off the area where investigators discovered Robinson inside of a car. Investigators arrived on scene to find the man partially decomposed.

“I didn’t know anything about it until this afternoon,” said artinsville resident Mary Dayhuff.

Some people living nearby said the neighborhood is pretty quiet for the most part.

“Just crazy cars up and down once in a while,” said Dayhuff.

Investigators said they have reason to believe that foul play is involved in the death of Robinson.

They believe that someone killed Robinson at a different location and dumped his body in Morgan County. At this time they are still trying to figure out who did it and why.

“This is shocking out in this neighborhood, especially,” said Dayhuff.

Investigators have not said how Robinson was killed. An autopsy revealed “indication of lethal trauma.” Investigators said they are still waiting for the coroner’s office to determine the exact cause.

Longtime residents are just praying for the person responsible to be caught.

“I couldn’t believe it,” said Dayhuff. “Makes me want to lock my doors tighter.”

Family told the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department that Robinson was last seen in the area of East Tenth Street and Rural Avenue. They said he left his place to give relatives a ride back home and never returned.
