Police: Drunken Muncie man got car stuck on train tracks

MUNCIE, Ind. (WISH) – A Muncie man was arrested this week after police say he got his car stuck on local railroad tracks and was drunk at the time.

Officers responded to a call about a vehicle hung up on the tracks near Jackson Street and Morrison Road around 11 p.m. Wednesday.

Police found the 2001 GMC Yukon just off the tracks near that intersection. Police say the driver, 20-year-old Brandon Michael Collins, had tried to drive his vehicle down the tracks when he thought he saw a train approaching.

Police say when he tried to back his vehicle off the tracks, it got stuck in a culvert. All train traffic was suspended on the railway so crews could remove the vehicle.

Preliminarily, police say Collins had a blood alcohol content of nearly two times the legal limit. He was booked into the Delaware County Jail and preliminarily charged with OWI, illegal possession of alcohol, open container violation and driving while license suspended.
