Two men sentenced in 2013 robbery, murder

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Two men accused for a deadly shooting in Indianapolis in 2013 have been sentenced for their role in the crime

Adrian Anthony and Christopher Bell were sentenced for the killing of Robbie Gibson after a jury found them guilty in April. Anthony was also convicted of carrying a handgun without a license.

Police say Gibson was found shot on Gray Street near Washington and Emerson. Police say Bell and Anthony approached Gibson and another man before the shooting and demanded money.

Anthony was sentenced to 62 years. Bell received a 45 year sentence.

Last month, a jury convicted Anthony and three other men on several charges in connection to a violent home invasion on the north side of Indianapolis.

Anthony’s sentencing will run consecutively with his 318-year sentence for his role in the October 2013 home invasion and assault. Demetre Brown, Alexander Dupree, and Michael Pugh were also convicted of multiple felonies for the early morning robbery and violent attack of a couple and their adult daughter. The invasion happened on the E. 79th Street on October 29, 2013. The four were convicted by a jury in March and sentenced in May of rape, robbery, burglary, battery, and carjacking. Each were also convicted of aggravated battery for the shooting of Eileen Potenza.

Anthony is also being held on two additional, unrelated cases including a violent home invasion that occurred on North Spring Mill Road in October 24, 2013. A jury trial for the case is set for August 10.
