Coroner rules death of body found in closet a homicide

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WANE) – The Allen County Coroner’s Office has ruled the death of a man found in a closet by a correctional officer on a home visit a homicide.

The coroner’s report said Michael J. Fedock, 67, of Fort Wayne died from multiple blunt force injuries.

The correctional officer noticed a foul odor while questioning the people in the home during a scheduled visit.

Questioning led the officer to go into the upstairs bedroom where he found Fedock’s body in the closet.

In June, police charged 58-year-old Barbara Ann Helton with violating probation. No other arrests have been made in connection to Fedock’s death.

His death is the twelfth homicide ruled in 2015. The Fort Wayne Police Department and the Allen County Prosecutor’s Office are continuing with the investigation.
