Motorcycle ride bringing awareness to cold case

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) – There are still no arrests in the case of a 19-year-old shot and killed more than a year ago outside of a gas station in Lawrence.

19-year-old Kyle Jobin’s parents said he was home from Vincennes University on Christmas break in January 2014, when he went to visit a friend’s house.

Police said Kyle went to the gas station on 56th Street in Lawrence, when four men surrounded his car, knocking on windows, trying to break in.

Minutes later, they said an officer found Kyle shot inside the car. He died a day later.

The parents of Kyle Jobin said this past year has been very difficult. His case remains unsolved with no new leads, but they’re hoping that a fundraiser on Saturday will reignite his case and many others.

A motorcycle ride in his honor called ‘Kyle’s Ride’ will start and finish at the north side of the Harley Davidson Dealership on East 96th Street.

The motorcycle lovers are channeling their energy into the Second Annual Kyle’s Ride. Money raised from the event will go toward a scholarship fund in honor of their son.

Pre-registration starts at 9 a.m. with the ride starting at 10:30 a.m. Click here for more information about the event.

Anyone with information on the crime is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (317) 262- TIPS. Callers can remain anonymous.
