$76.4M sports complex proposal for Fishers up in the air

FISHERS, Ind. (WISH) — The future of a proposed Fishers sports center costing tens of millions of dollars, is up in the air.

A vote by the Fishers City Council scheduled for Monday, has been postponed.

The $76-million facility would include a 6,000 seat arena and other sports fields.

The delay comes as the council still considers whether to approve a $2 million 10-year tax abatement, a lease agreement for local youth sports and a waiver of nearly one million dollars in permit fees.

The project will be privately funded by GK Sports and Entertainment and built near Saxony Village. It will have a 4,200-seat arena, 245,000-square-foot fieldhouse and 600-space parking garage. The idea is for the facilities to host “a variety of hard-court or turf sports,” according to Fishers officials. A medical office and future hotel are also expected.

GK Sports and Entertainment hopes to open the proposed arena next year.
